Vitro exports chemical products to 15 countries

A producer of glass, Mexico‘s Vitro exported chemical products to 15 countries in 2022, a segment in which its sales were US$179 million.

Its Chemicals segment is engaged in the manufacture of inorganic chemicals, mainly sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, and calcium chloride.

In 2022, sales of chemical products represented 8% of Vitro’s total sales. Approximately 23% of net sales come from exports.

The Inorganic Chemicals business operates seven production plants in Garcia, Nuevo Leon.

As a whole, the company’s consolidated net sales in 2022 amounted to US$2.352 billion.

Vitro has production and direct marketing plants in 12 countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia, and exports its products to more than 40 countries around the world.

The Flat Glass segment focuses on the manufacture, processing and distribution of flat glass mainly for the construction and automotive industries.

The segment is composed as follows: Architectural business for the construction, residential and specialty industries, and Automotive business for Original Equipment (OEM) and Aftermarket (ARG).

In this segment, consolidated net sales amounted to US$1.904 billion in 2022.


On the other hand, its Chemicals segment produces sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride and calcium chloride, which serve the glass, detergents, water treatment, pharmaceutical, human food, oil industry, road de-icing and livestock markets, among others.

The segment is comprised of the Inorganic Chemicals business. In 2022, it reported consolidated net sales of US$179 million.

It currently holds 100% ownership of all its subsidiaries.

Finally, the Packaging segment manufactures and distributes glass containers for the cosmetics, fragrance, pharmaceutical and liquor industries, as well as machinery for the glass industry.

The segment is composed of the Glass Containers business (CFT), as well as the Machinery and Equipment business (FAMA).

Its consolidated net sales amounted to US$271 million in 2022. Today, it holds 100% ownership of all its subsidiaries.
