Mauricio Kuri, governor of Querétaro, is promoting market diversification in exports from the state.
Of its total exports of products to the world, Mexico ships 83% to the United States.
In general, the strong integration of supply chains between these two nations implies greater mutual dependence in their shared production.
But this integration makes it difficult for one of these countries to affect bilateral trade flows, as it could be shot in the foot or face retaliation.
Market diversification
Querétaro exported goods worth 17.642 billion dollars, a year-on-year drop of 3.2 percent.
A decade ago, in 2014, Queretaro’s exports of goods were 9.818 billion dollars.
With goods such as auto parts, household appliances, aero parts, food and electronics products, Querétaro has an export-oriented economy.
The following are product exports from Queretaro, in millions of dollars:
- 2018: 11,653.
- 2019: 12,970.
- 2020: 11,355.
- 2021: 14,172.
- 2022: 16,713.
- 2023: 18,226.
- 2024: 17,642.
Logistics platform
Marco Antonio Del Prete, Querétaro’s Secretary of Sustainable Development, reported that the Kuri administration is promoting the diversification of the export base and opening markets in Asia, Latin America and Europe.
In the aeronautical industry, Querétaro exports practically all the products it manufactures, including airplane turbines from Bombardier Aerospace or airplane engines from Safran.
Querétaro promotes air transport, both for cargo and passengers. In 2024, more than 17,000 tons of cargo were transported by air in this state. It also has DHL, Fedex and UPS facilities at the state capital’s airport.
Kuri and Del Prete held a press conference this Tuesday in Mexico City to promote Mexico’s 31st Foreign Trade Congress, to be held in Queretaro from October 29-31, 2025.
The state has established itself as a strategic manufacturing center for aeronautical components.
Querétaro has manufacturing plants in the automotive industry such as Dana Incorporated, Valeo and ZF Group and in the home appliance industry such as Samsung and Mabe.
