Berkshire Hathaway: operations in Mexico
Berkshire Hathaway, a company known for its control and leadership by Warren Buffett, has industrial and service operations in Mexico, through different subsidiaries.
On the one hand, Foodservice Technologies manufactures beverage dispensing and cooling equipment, hot and cold food preparation and holding equipment, and related products for restaurants, global brand owners, and other foodservice providers.
Its manufacturing operations are in the United States, Mexico, China, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy, and its products are sold primarily in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
Also a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Water Technologies manufactures water treatment equipment for residential, commercial and industrial applications around the world. Operations are primarily based in the United States, Canada, China, Singapore, India, and Mexico, with shopping centers located in Belgium, France, Poland, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates.
In turn, its subsidiary Transportation Products serves the automotive, heavy-duty trucking, and aerospace industries with precision-molded plastic components; solutions for fixation threads; metal pipe; automotive aftermarket chassis and transmission products; flatbed and low bed trailers; and truck and trailer components.
Transportation Products’ operations and business are conducted primarily in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Europe and Asia.
In the service sector, Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF), through the BNSF Railway Company (BNSF Railway), operates one of the largest rail systems in North America.
BNSF’s major routes, including tracking rights, allow you access to major cities and ports in the western and southern United States, as well as parts of Canada and Mexico.
Meanwhile, Metal Services provides specialty metal pipes, tubes and related value-added services to clients in a wide range of industries. Operations are based in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and business is conducted primarily in those countries.
Finally, Shaw Industries Group, based in Dalton, Georgia, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of carpet and flooring products.
Shaw designs and manufactures more than 4,100 styles of tufted carpet, hardwood and resilient flooring for residential and commercial use under some 30 brand and trade names and under certain private labels.
In addition, Shaw offers project management and installation services.
Shaw’s manufacturing operations are fully integrated from the processing of the raw materials used to make fiber to the finishing of the carpet.
Shaw manufactures and distributes carpet tile throughout Europe and also manufactures or distributes a variety of hardwood, wood-plastic composites (WPC), stone-plastic composites (SPC) and vinyl and laminate flooring products (“hard surfaces”).
All products are sold wholesale to more than 47,000 retailers, distributors, and business users in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and are also exported to various foreign markets.
