Atizapán-Atlacomulco highway to resume construction by the end of 2023

Aleatica expects to continue construction activities on the Atizapán-Atlacomulco highway (AT-AT) in the third quarter of 2023, once the refinancing process is completed.

As of December 31, 2022, 76.45 kilometers of the 77.20 kilometers of the total 77.20 kilometers of right-of-way had been released with delivery/reception certificates, leaving 0.75 kilometers pending.

Earlier, on January 26, 2022, the company signed the amendment to the Concession Title extending the concession term by 10 more years for a total term of 40 years.

The project consists of a 77-kilometer stretch of toll highway known as Autopista Atizapán-Atlacomulco, located in the State of Mexico.

Aleatica has positioned itself as a relevant transportation infrastructure operator in the industry within the metropolitan area of Mexico City, both in terms of the number of concessions assigned and the number of highways managed.

The company operates infrastructure that covers the basic transportation needs of the national population through seven highways located in Mexico City, the State of Mexico and the State of Puebla, as well as the Toluca International Airport.

Atizapán-Atlacomulco Highway

On April 25, 2014, the federal government, through the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT), in its capacity as grantor, granted a concession to AT-AT for the construction, operation, conservation and maintenance of the Atizapán-Atlacomulco high-specification highway.

The highway starts at kilometer 19+620 of the Chiluca junction, located at kilometer 14+500 of the Chamapa-Lechería highway, and ends at kilometer 100+046 of the Atlacomulco junction, located at the confluence of the Atlacomulco-Maravatío highway, Libramiento Norte de la Ciudad de México and the Atlacomulco-Palmillas federal highway, in the State of Mexico.

On February 25, 2021, the Concessionaire received from the General Directorate of Highway Development, official letter No. 3.4.-068, by virtue of which, among others, «the existence of a force majeure event is recognized» and «the modification of the Highway Construction Program is authorized, with the purpose of concluding all the works of the Project, in a term no longer than 24 months counted from the date the Concessionaire physically receives the surface of the Right of Way».

With this authorization, the delay in the Construction Program is eliminated, due to the delay in obtaining the right of way required for the construction of the project.
