The company Ollamani disclosed the revenues from the Banorte Stadium in 2024, both for matches and events, as well as the sale of beverages and food.

To be precise: it used to be called Estadio Azteca and is sometimes referred to as Coloso de Santa Ursula. Now its name is Estadio Banorte due to a sponsorship agreement with this Mexican bank.

It is the largest stadium in Mexico, with a capacity for 81,070 spectators.

Revenues from the Banorte Stadium

Banorte Stadium was inaugurated on May 29, 1966. Years later, in 1970, it hosted the famous “Match of the Century” between Italy and Germany. Later, in 1986, it witnessed Diego Maradona’s iconic goals: the “Hand of God” and the “Goal of the Century” against England.

In addition, the stadium is located 2,240 meters above sea level. It has hosted two inaugurations and two FIFA World Cup finals (1970 and 1986). Recently, FIFA confirmed it as one of the venues for the 2026 World Cup, which will be played in Mexico, Canada and the United States. It will thus become the only stadium in the world to have hosted matches in three different World Cups.

Currently, Estadio Banorte is the home of Club América and Cruz Azul, in both the men’s and women’s divisions. It also hosts most of the matches of Mexico’s National Teams. In the first 11 months of 2024 alone, sporting events and mass spectacles generated revenues of 355.6 million pesos.

Ollamani also manages the sale of food and beverages at the stadium. In the same period, it obtained 115.1 million pesos. It also grants concessions to third parties to sell souvenirs, sporting goods and services inside the stadium.

FIFA World Cup in 2026

Since mid-2024, the stadium has been undergoing a comprehensive remodeling. The aim is to adapt it to FIFA World Cup standards. The works include new accesses, stands, boxes, signage, toilets and VIP areas, as well as security systems and sustainable technology.

Finally, it should be recalled that a major renovation had already been carried out in 2016. At that time, private suites and executive boxes were added, which improved the experience for fans.
