Equinox Gold Corp. reported Monday that the community blockade at the company’s Los Filos mine in Mexico has been lifted and access to the mine has been restored.
The Los Filos mine produced 17,691 ounces of gold in the second quarter of 2020.
With this, Los Filos contributed to the company producing 127,016 ounces of gold at total holding costs (AISC) of 900 dollars per ounce sold, considering its six mines in America.
Los Filos has begun a phased restart and is working towards full operations in December.
Workers will resume their duties only after the Covid-19 test is negative.
“Representatives from Los Filos and Equinox Gold have met regularly with community leaders to discuss their concerns,” the company said in a statement.
With the blockade removed, good faith negotiations will continue to reach a final agreement.
