Ford’s industrial debt (excluding Ford Credit) grew at year-on-year rates of 4.0% in 2024 and 5.8% in 2025, reaching $21.9 billion.

In 2025, Ford Motor Company’s debt increased due to a new £1 billion term loan from the UK Export Finance Program and a $3.4 billion deferred draw term loan.

Ford’s industrial debt

Ford Motor Company, founded in 1903, is a global company based in Dearborn, Michigan, engaged in the design, manufacture, marketing, and servicing of Ford and Lincoln vehicles, as well as financial services through Ford Credit.

The trend in Ford’s industrial debt, in millions of dollars, is shown below:

  • 2021: 20.4 billion.
  • 2022: 19.9 billion.
  • 2023: $19.9 billion.
  • 2024: $20.7 billion.
  • 2025: $21.9 billion.

Electric cars

In 2025, the company increased its industrial debt to finance investments in electric vehicles and other strategic initiatives, despite lower adoption rates for electric vehicles and market challenges.

Previously, Ford increased its debt between 2022 and 2024 to finance investments in electric vehicles, including a capital contribution of $2.6 billion to BlueOval SK, LLC in 2023 and $2.3 billion in 2024.

Green bonds were also issued and other strategic investments were made.

Total revenue

The company’s traditional competitors are expanding their offerings, and new types of competitors, particularly in areas of Ford’s strength such as trucks and commercial vehicles, are entering the market with superior technology and more efficient business models, without the same fixed costs.

The company’s total revenue in 2025 was $187.267 billion, representing a 1% increase over the previous year.

This modest growth comes amid market volatility and changes in trade policies.

These are the company’s total revenues, in millions of dollars:

  • 2021: $136.341 billion.
  • 2022: $158.057 billion.
  • 2023: $176.191 billion.
  • 2024: $184.992 billion.
  • 2025: $187.267 billion.

The company recorded a net loss of $8.182 billion in 2025, compared to a profit of $5.879 billion in 2024. This change is primarily attributable to significant special charges related to the electric vehicle strategy and the disposal of the investment in the BOSK joint venture.
