The plastics industry in Querétaro is strategically important for supplying the production of aircraft parts, household appliances and auto parts.
Since it took off in Querétaro in 2006 with the arrival of Bombardier Aerospace, the aeronautics industry has developed continuously.
Now, for example, Safran produces engines that are exported to France. It is also about to start producing the most complex turbine alloys in France.
Plastics industry
Marco Antonio Del Prete, Queretaro’s Secretary of Sustainable Development, said that there is a link between the production of plastics, household appliances and the production of auto parts and aero parts.
As examples of production in the aeronautics industry in Queretaro, are the following cases. Bombardier Aerospace produces fuselages for business jets such as the Global 7500. In addition, Safran develops landing gear and engine parts for engines such as the LEAP.
GE Aerospace assembles components for engines such as the GE90. Airbus Helicopters manufactures parts for light helicopters. Latecoere produces aircraft doors and structural subassemblies. And Aernnova creates metal and composite stabilizers.
“In the automotive industry we no longer only manufacture automotive parts, but we are already manufacturing automotive systems,” added Del Prete, immediately highlighting the production related to the development of driving technology in the state.
Among others, transmission and powertrain systems, steering systems and suspension and chassis systems are manufactured in Querétaro.
Appliances
Plastic is essential in the manufacturing industry because of its versatility, lightness, and strength. In sectors such as aerospace, automotive and household appliances, it reduces weight, improves efficiency and increases durability. In addition, it drives technological innovation and adapts to environmental requirements thanks to its recyclability.
Mabe produces refrigerators, stoves and washing machines and has invested in a Technology and Projects Center (T&P) in Querétaro, where new products are developed and tested before being launched on the market.
Querétaro is strategically located in the Bajío industrial corridor, with quick access to key ports and large markets such as Mexico City and Guadalajara, which reduces logistics costs and times. It also has advanced infrastructure, including an international cargo airport, an efficient highway network, and a logistics park with rail connections to move large volumes of goods.
