Mexican manufacturing exports grow 5 years in a row

Mexican manufacturing exports grew five years in a row at year-on-year rates, considering the first half of 2021 to 2025, Inegi reported this Monday.

From January to June 2025, Mexico‘s manufacturing exports increased 6.2% at annual rate, to 283.026 billion dollars. 

These external sales represent 90.5% of exports of all products from Mexico.

Mexican manufacturing exports

Worldwide, Mexico stands out in manufacturing exports due to the quality of the goods it produces. Its proximity to the United States reduces logistics times and costs. In addition, it offers skilled labor with competitive wages. In addition, it has a broad network of trade agreements and a modern infrastructure. Finally, its industry is strongly integrated into global chains, especially in the automotive and electrical-electronic sectors.

Mexican manufacturing exports in the first half of each year are shown below, in millions of dollars and with their year-on-year growth rates:

  • 2018: 191,328 (+8.9 percent).
  • 2019: 200,663 (+4.9 percent).
  • 2020: 161,268 (-19.6 percent).
  • 2021: 207,956 (+29.0 percent).
  • 2022: 243,926 (+17.3 percent).
  • 2023: 258,893 (+6.1 percent).
  • 2024: 266,402 (+2.9 percent).
  • 2025: 283,026 (+6.2 percent).

Miscellaneous manufacturing

Mexico produces a wide variety of manufactured goods, from cars, trucks and auto parts to medical instruments and devices, tequila, beer and household appliances.

In June 2025, manufacturing exports grew 13.5% compared to the same month a year earlier. The boost came from several sectors.

Foreign sales of machinery and special equipment for diverse industries stood out, with an increase of 55.0%. Exports of professional and scientific equipment also rose, with an increase of 23.4 percent.

In addition, mining and metallurgy products increased 19.3%. Shipments of electrical and electronic equipment grew 6.6 percent, while automotive products recorded a 4.5 percent rebound.

Mexican manufacturing exports are subdivided as follows:

June 2025

  • Automotive industry: US$16,319 million (+4.5% y-o-y).
  • Rest: US$33.365 billion (+18.5% y-o-y).

January-June 2025

  • Automotive industry: US$91,368 million (-4.0% y-o-y).
  • Rest: US$191.658 billion (+12.0% y-o-y).
