The history of El Buen Fin in Mexico has grown from initial sales of 39.8 billion pesos in 2011 to 172.9 billion pesos in 2024, according to data from the Ministry of Economy.
El Buen Fin is an annual sales event. Its goal is to stimulate the economy. It offers discounts and promotions on products and services and is usually held in mid-November. In this way, it boosts consumption. It also strengthens competition between businesses and brands.
History of El Buen Fin
El Buen Fin emerged in 2011 as an initiative of the Mexican government and the private sector. Its goal was to emulate the American Black Friday. Interestingly, its date is close to the anniversary of the Mexican Revolution, combining commerce and tradition.
For the 2025 edition, various activities were carried out from January to August. These included meetings with the working group and new participants in the Program.
In July 2025, the Operating Rules for the 15th anniversary edition were signed. Notable new features include: the extension of the Program period; pre-registration to streamline participant advertising; and the joint dissemination of the “El Buen Fin” Program logo together with the “Made in Mexico” brand.
Federal entities
Press conferences are scheduled to introduce new participants. In August 2025, work was carried out with the Legal Affairs Unit on the draft agreement for the transfer of information between the Ministry of Economy and the Tax Administration Service, which is only pending signature.
In addition, in coordination with the Transparency Unit, the comprehensive and simplified privacy agreements were validated. All that remains is for the Transparency Committee to approve them; once authorized, they will be published on the program’s official website.
This edition follows a strategy of involving all federal entities. Producers are also being incorporated, and the call for participation is being expanded to include more SMEs and large companies. The objective is to strengthen national unity, shared prosperity, and promote the consumption of Mexican products.
During El Buen Fin, companies such as Walmart, Liverpool, Soriana, Coppel, Amazon, Palacio de Hierro, Sears, Elektra, and Oxxo participate. They offer various discounts that boost consumption and strengthen the national economy every November.
