The Mexican company Grupo Bafar projects pecan production of 3,000 tons in five years.
The pecan is a nut native to North America. This fruit has a hard shell and pulp rich in healthy oils. It provides protein, fiber, and antioxidants. Its sweet and buttery flavor makes it ideal for baking, snacks, and gourmet dishes.
According to the chairman of the board of directors of Grupo Bafar, Eugenio Baeza, the company has 3,000 hectares of pecan trees.
Pecan production
For now, in the agro-industrial sector, Grupo Bafar’s income from nut sales reached 58.3 million pesos in 2024.
The company’s agro-industrial division managed to sell around 674 tons of pecans that year, representing a 59% increase compared to the volume in 2023.
Over the next five years, pecan production is estimated to increase to more than 3,000 tons, making the company one of the leading pecan producers in North America. This economic sector expects significant growth in its performance in the coming years, thanks to the maturity reached by the hectares of walnut trees planted.
