Domino’s Pizza, Inc. opened 69 new net stores

The world’s largest pizza company by sales said that while it did not incur significant disruptions to its operations during the first quarter of 2020 by COVID-19, it cannot at this time predict the impact the new coronavirus will have on its business, financial position and operating results in future periods.

So far, there are numerous uncertainties and the company is closely monitoring the impact of the pandemic on all aspects of its business.

Domino’s Pizza continued its global expansion with the opening of new net stores in the first quarter of 2020. Although it opened 143 new gross stores internationally, it also closed 104 stores, primarily as a result of the closure of its non-COVID-19 South African market, comprising 71 stores in total.

It also opened 30 new net stores in the United States during the first quarter of 2020.

Domino’s Pizza and its strength

Overall, the company believes that its continued global store growth, along with its sales growth, emphasis on technology, operations, and marketing initiatives have combined to strengthen its brand.

Global retail sales, excluding the impact in foreign currency, which includes total retail sales in company-owned franchises and stores worldwide, increased 5.9% in the first quarter of 2020.

Domino’s Pizza: revenues (millions of dollars)

Sales growth in the same stores in the United States reflected positive sales trends and the continued success of its product, marketing and technology platforms. International growth in same-store sales also reflected continued positive performance.
