Beiersdorf Mexico will invest €350 million in the expansion of a plant in Mexico, according to Ismael Ortiz, head of the Global Economic Intelligence Unit at the Ministry of Economy.

Beiersdorf is a global German company. It focuses on skin care. It produces creams, sunscreen, lip balms, and adhesives. Its brands include NIVEA, Eucerin, Curitas, Labello, La Prairie, and Tesa. It dominates several market segments.

Ortiz met with representatives of Beiersdorf Mexico, a subsidiary of Beiersdorf, which has been present in Mexico for more than six decades.

“At the meeting, we discussed their expansion project at the plant in Silao, Guanajuato, with an investment of €350 million. This plan strengthens Mexico as a strategic manufacturing and export hub, as 70% of its production is destined for international markets,” said Ortiz.

The investment will promote quality jobs, drive the adoption of advanced technologies, and strengthen the commitment to sustainability. At the same time, it seeks to move toward carbon neutrality by 2045, aligning economic growth and environmental responsibility.

Investments

Beiersdorf has a global network of production plants. It operates in Germany, Poland, Spain, and Switzerland. It also manufactures in Mexico, Brazil, and the United States.

Beiersdorf has facilities in Indonesia and Vietnam, strengthening its international presence in personal care and adhesives.

In 2024, Beiersdorf invested €432 million in property, plant, and equipment. Most of this went to its Consumer and tesa segments. Key projects included the new plant in Leipzig and expansion in Poland and Mexico. In addition, the construction of the logistics center in Leipzig represented €60 million, strengthening its operational and logistical capacity.

As part of its results, the company mentioned that the NIVEA brand increased its market share, especially in North America and Japan. Significant increases were also recorded in Mexico, Sweden, and the Philippines. The Derma unit, with Eucerin and Aquaphor, grew in all regions, particularly in the United States, Brazil, Austria, and Germany. Health Care also recorded another year of expansion, driven by increases in Australia and Indonesia.
