Maersk partners with IB Cargo for logistics in Romania

Maersk announced on September 23 that it is partnering with IB Cargo to offer customized logistics solutions for IKEA Supply AG in Romania.

It is a partnership for the operation of a 75,000 square meter regional distribution center for IKEA Supply AG, located in the CTPark Bucharest West industrial park.

The facility, to be completed by the end of 2020 and operational by mid-2021, will be the largest warehouse in Romania and will be used by IKEA Supply AG as its distribution center for inbound and outbound operations for warehouses in the southeast of Europe and the eastern Mediterranean.

«We are very proud of this project, which will allow us to offer comprehensive and customized logistics solutions to IKEA Supply AG,» said Sedef Ayhan, Managing Director for the Eastern Mediterranean at Maersk.

«This is in line with our strategy of providing integrated logistics solutions and we have experience in similar projects for IKEA Supply AG in other countries,» he added.

The new warehouse will be BREEAM certified, the world’s leading sustainability assessment method for projects, infrastructure and buildings.

It will be part of the CTPark Bucharest West, known as the western gateway to the city, conveniently located close to the A1 motorway, the main East-West corridor in the country and only 10 km from the city’s ring road.

«Over the past 12 years, we have grown in the freight industry by continually adding and developing new services, so that we can offer our customers not just transportation, but solutions that help them grow and optimize.

«Therefore, entering the storage market is a natural development for IB Cargo, completing the range of services we offer to customers,» said Catalin Putineanu, founder and managing partner of IB Cargo.
